Can you believe Christmas Day is almost here!!!!????? I can't! I'm almost in a panic. Shopping isn't done and I have one more party at my house to prepare for. Busy! Busy!! Since this is the last full weekend before Christmas I thought I would let you know off a few store hours a few shopping establishments you might need to put on your list for this weekend.

These are just a few stores you can choose from. I'm sure even more have extended hours. And of course, you can always save WalMart for last because they are opened 24 hours a day for your shopping convenience.
Just remember the true meaning of the season is not all the material frenzy we run around and buy, it's the Birth of Jesus who we really celebrate!
Merry Christmas!

Dothan's Downtown Christmas
Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas! The City of Dothan, along with a host of sponsors, is hosting it's 4th Annual Downtown Christmas. There are many activities going on Friday night and all day Saturday. They kicked all the festivities off last night in the chilly air with the lighting of the Christmas tree. It was a grand night with singing, lights, and of course, Santa! The Downtown Christmas is a wonderful way to kick-off the holiday season and get that Christmas spirit going! They have so much planned starting with the Holiday Spectacular which will feature tons of entertainment orchestrated by Ron DeVane. Saturday's events include a huge Snow Zone, music, crafts for the kids, food including one of my favorites-The Corn Dog Man and tons of vendors selling everything from Watkins products, Simply Tasteful, to clothes and purses. There will also be a Pet Fashion Extravaganza! How Cute! To find out more information check out www.downtowngroup.com.

Christmas Tree Lighting in Dothan
Tonight at 6:00 p.m. the city of Dothan will host the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. This tradition has been going on for over 38 years. There have been 3 Christmas Trees in my lifetime. The first I remember was in front of the Houston County Courthouse. It was huge! Then when they fixed up Poplar Head Park they had a tree there that grew to be very large. Now we have a very, very large tree that sits on the balcony of the Dothan Civic Center. It is adorned beautifully each Christmas.
Come on down tonight and enjoy the lighting of the Christmas Tree. There will be singing by the Montana Magnet School Chorus and many other things going on. It should make for a great start to your Christmas Season.
