Wading in the House

Monday was going along just fine until my cell rang and life became real exciting....our house flooded! Our water heater sprung a leak an sprayed across the room and soaked the floors in our office, office closet, coat closet, foyer, living room, and dining room. I was summoned home to aid in getting things cleaned up. When I got home I have never seen so much water. You could walk on the carpet and the water would come over my shoes. It was awful!! Lance had already made the important calls to the insurance company, ServPro, and the plumber. Lance took plenty of pictures and we got some things out, but I didn't want to do too much because I wanted the insurance adjuster to see it. After a few minutes, I went back to work.

ServPro came and got the carpet out of the office and living room and the pad from the dining room and brought in about 12 dryers and 2 humidifiers. There were 2 dryers going under the dining room carpet, 3 in the living room, 4 in the office and closet, 2 in the foyer, and 1 in the coat closet. There was a constant hummmmmmmmmmm! On Tuesday the adjuster came and they ripped out the foyer floor. Wednesday brought taking the baseboards off the stairs and taking out the floor in the coat closet. Thursday the dryers and humidifiers got to leave. It is once again quiet in my home again.

There were so many things ruined, wet, and messed up. Fatalities were 4 computers, laser printer, color copier, scanner, camera lens, lots of paper, note cards, Christmas gift wrap, everyday gift wrap, tons of gift bags and tissue paper and all the accessories that go along with wrapping like bows, and all kinds of ribbon. I had lots of gifts that I had bought up so I would always have something when needed that are messed up. Clothes, gift boxes, and papers. Our fireproof safe is not waterproof, so all the important papers got drenched. I've never experienced anything like this.

Now we are on to decisions of what to put down in these rooms. We have a few choices...replace the carpet (not my choice), put a good quality laminate down, paint the concrete, or stain the concrete. We just don't know what we are going to do!

We are open to all avenues! I'll let you know the rest of the story.....

How Are You Going To Look For Your New Home?

90% of all home buyers start their search on the Internet! The second way is they know an agent and the third way is seeing a yard sign. These are great ways to start looking for a home.

Let me share with you how you really don't have to lift a finger to find a new house. Call me!!! This is how it works...call me and we will go make a list of your criteria and what you are looking for in your new home. I will be glad to guide you through the process of contacting a lender and getting pre-approved for a loan. Once you are pre-approved you will know exactly what you are able to borrow to purchase a home. This is half the battle of buying a new home. When all this is done we will hit the roads looking for your new home. With our MLS I am able to email you listings for you to preview and then I will make appointments and off we go!

This process can get "hairy" at times, but I will do my best to make it a fun time! So call me and let's get started. You can take advantage of the tax credits right now. April 30 is coming soon, so don't let this time pass by.
