Have You Ever Had a Pajama Day?
My 13 year old hopped in the car when I picked her up from school yesterday and said, "mama I think tomorrow we need to have a pajama day tomorrow". As busy as our lives get sometimes we forget to live life. We are rushing around to get children to functions, ourselves to meetings, taking care of others, and just about everything we can squeeze into all the other minutes.
I'm an avid Facebooker and it amazes me the how many statuses wish the week away and can't wait until the weekend. I've actually been that way myself before, but I am slowly realizing that I need to "stop and smell the roses" even during the week. While coming to this point I have to wonder what I can do to make it happen. Here are a few things I have thought of to slow down.
Always keep a calendar and write everything down. This way you can control what you do. Don't worry schedule free time in your calendar and that way if something spontaneous comes up you will be able to do a little shuffle and take off. When your children want to talk, stop and talk! Most things can wait a few minutes. Don't work too much! When you do get your work done for the day-leave and go home. Don't hang around when you are accomplishing nothing. Go home!!! We have started actually cooking together and eating meals at the table. In the past, we've eaten in shifts and lots of time in front of the television. After school, go get a ice cream before homework and talk to your children on the way. Ask questions about their day. Get involved in their lives. Another way to slow down is not to over commit yourself. Learn the word "no" and how to say it nicely! Remember if you do everything then you are taking a blessing from someone else, of being able to do that job. Slowing down requires a little planning ahead. Make a list for the grocery store and Wally World. Go by the list and don't buy anything else. This saves time and money.
These are just a few ways to slow down. Make time to do all you want to do. Make time for your family. Share yourself with others because it will bless you more than them.
So on this Saturday, Shelby and I are having a Pajama Day! Movies, Xbox, snacks, and time together are the important things today! You would be amazed at how wonderful it is! Go ahead, try it!!
Happy Slow Down!

Investment Property in Dothan
Rental property is huge in Dothan! Most people who own their own home may not realize just how big this market is. In the near future, with foreclosures on the rise this market is about to boom even bigger. There are houses for rent from $200-$2000 in Dothan. Some may ask who rents a house? The answer is very diverse. People rent for all sorts of reasons, some being, they don't have a high enough credit score to qualify to purchase a home, job will require them to live here only a short time, they don't want the total responsibility of home ownership, waiting for their new home to be built, they haven't found the house they want and have already sold their home, and they are new to the area and want to live here a while before they choose a neighborhood to live. As you can see the list is huge and diverse.
If you would like to get into this market and are looking for some rental property to purchase I would be glad to assist you. There are companies who will manage your properties and you will receive a check every month. Property management companies can be full-service and do all the paperwork, screening of potential residents, making repairs, and other services also. This takes the headache out of owning rental property. Our sister company is Real Estate Services and they would be glad to assist you with your rental property. I would be glad to introduce you. If you decide to start into this market and talk to them please tell them Michelle Beasley sent you.
I want to share one of my properties with you that would be a great property for rental. Check out 604 Alabama Avenue, Dothan, Alabama. This 3/1.5 has a living room and separate den. It has an eat-in kitchen and all appliances stay. It has been painted on the outside and many rooms on the interior. Sellers are very motivated, so please make an offer. They will entertain all offers! Please contact me if you have any questions.

Did you know...
Did you know that Dothan, Alabama is ranked the 8th in the nation as a great place to live? We are living in a wonderful city that has so much to offer and most people have no clue. We have low taxes, great medical facilities, wonderful places to eat, sports for the entire family to be involved, world-class tennis, and so much more. Next time you start to think there is nothing to do, you can take a walk on the walking track at Westgate, go to the Botanical Gardens, visit Landmark Park, take a mural tour, go to the Wiregrass Museum of Art, take a class at the Cultural Arts, take a class at one of the recreation centers, go to Water World or pool, go out to eat, shop, take the Dothan 101 Class, volunteer at a charity, and many other options are out there.
So you see Dothan is the place to be! Go try something new this weekend!

I'm Back!!!!
Wow it has been 4 months since I blogged! Boy, how time gets away from you. Let me catch you up on my life and then I will map out my plan for this blog.
Shelby finally got out of school at the end of May. I had a week to get final preparations done for VBS 2009. Then VBS was here and gone. Such a fun packed week, but totally exhausting. Then the next week we went to the beach for family vacation and took along Shelby's friends Anna and Beth. We had numerous guest all throughout the week and it was terrific! Celebrated our 21st anniversary while we were there.
The next week I was back in the office for a few days and the next week I had my 10th sinus surgery. Then two weeks recovery and we were off to Montana as a family with our church for a mission trip. Wonderful time!!!! Back on Friday and the last week in July I was on jury duty.
That is our summer! We had just enough time to catch our breath and school started back and that put me back into real estate mode!
I am looking for new clients to assist them in the sell of their house and the buying of a new home. If you know of anyone please let me know or give them my number. Let me make it easy for you. Here's my contact info:

Should I Buy? Should I Sell?
Should I buy a house now? Should I put my house on the market? What is the market going to do? These are all very valid questions, especially with the state of our economy. Good news for the Dothan market--we are doing much better than most areas in the country. I wanted you to tell you all about the market in Dothan.
As of today, March 16, 2009 there was 1,067 properties on the market. This is a summary of all properties single, multi, mobile, land, and commercial. From January 1-March 16 there were 199 properties that sold. The following is a breakdown of pending and solds in various price ranges:
Price Active Pending Sold
up to 100,000 715 68 87
101,000-200,000 619 83 73
201,000-300,000 266 18 31
301,000 and up 351 12 8
As you can see the lower numbers are selling pretty steady right now. Will the market pick up? No one really knows, but eventually it will. In some parts of the country, that's the only way it can go. We are so fortunate in our area that our homes are holding their value pretty well.
I tell all my clients, don't think you are going to get a steal of a deal in Dothan because you won't. Thankfully we are holding our own and doing very well compared most parts of the country. Rates are around 5% and fluctuate a little about and a little below which are great rates any way you look at it. These rates for a home are unheard of in the past few years and we hear rumors of them going even lower. Mortgage companies are becoming competitive so I would recommend shopping around.
Don't forget the $8000 tax credit for first time home buyers! It's a great time to buy a home. Keep your credit score looking good and don't make any huge purchases, it all shows up on your credit report.
Call me and I will assist you through this amazing process.

Happy New Year
I hope your new year has started off on a great note! Mine has! I've always been told not to wash clothes on New Year's Day because that is what you will do for the rest of the year, but this year I showed houses on New Year's Day and I hope and pray I will be doing that all year long! Of course, if you saw my laundry pile you would probably think I needed to wash clothes all year!lol
Did you make any resolutions this year? I chose not to this year. I had such a banner year in 2008 by turning 40 that I decided I needed to make lifestyle changes that last forever. I got an early start in August. I bet you are wondering if I'm actually doing anything any different and the answer is YES!!! Some may seem small to you, but to me they are HUGE! One is not to eat out everyday for some meal. I can just hear the moans, but you have to understand I love to eat out. I've limited our family to 1 time a week and that's usually after church on Sunday night. I tell you I'm so proud of the gift cards for Christmas to eating places and can't wait to go. Another lifestyle change is organizing my work day, so no time is wasted. This is a challenge! Since I have a flexible schedule for the most part it's hard to plan for everything! I hope to see the fruit of this change in later months.
My goal for 2009 on Dothan Dots of Info is to blog at least 3 times a week. It may be short and sweet, but it will be informative. Please share this blog with all your friends.
I look forward to a wonderful year in 2009!
